Sunday, a little after nine. The magazine lies open on the duvet, the lamp is low, and your hair goes up for the night. Most evening routines are careful until this moment.
Then hair and face spend seven or eight hours on the same piece of fabric, and nobody gives it a thought until morning. This page is about that fabric, in facts you can check.
What is Siluxe, and what does it make?
Siluxe starts at that moment. It is a silk brand designed in Paris, built around the hours you spend at rest, and it makes a short list of pieces, each with one job.
The pillowcase changes the surface under your face and hair. A bonnet holds the lengths. The eye mask keeps ambient light off your eyes. A scrunchie ties hair loosely, and the headband keeps it off your face while you cleanse.
None of them is a step in a system you have to complete. One well-chosen piece can be enough. The aim is to improve the part of the evening you already have, rather than to add a new one.
What do 22 momme, Grade 6A and OEKO-TEX® tell you?
Luxury is easy to announce and harder to demonstrate. So Siluxe leads with facts that can be named and checked, and says plainly what each one does not prove.
| The specification | What it tells you | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| 100% mulberry silk | Every Siluxe piece is mulberry silk, with no blended fibre. | It names the fibre. It is not a promise about your hair or your skin. |
| 22 momme | Momme measures the weight of silk. At 22 momme, that is about 95 g per square metre (1 momme is about 4.34 g/m²). | It is not a thread count, and a higher number alone does not promise more comfort. |
| Grade 6A | A raw-silk grade for long-fibre silk, backed by supplier documentation. | It is not a certification of the finished piece, or proof of a beauty result. |
| OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 | The range is certified under certificate no. 26.HCN.36686. Certified items are tested against limits for harmful substances. | It covers harmful substances. It says nothing about how a piece performs at night. |
These details separate a material specification from a cloud of adjectives. Each has a longer guide in the Journal, starting with what 22 momme means for a silk pillowcase. The certificate number can be looked up on the OEKO-TEX® Label Check.
One piece in the range is deliberately different. The Siluxe Antibacterial Silk Pillowcase, product code SIL-PC-AB, contains a dedicated silver-ion finish tested to ISO 20743 for antibacterial activity on the fabric. Under the stated test conditions, it demonstrated up to 99.7% antibacterial activity, retained after 50 washes under the tested conditions. That description applies only to this pillowcase.
What “designed in Paris” means
Siluxe is designed in Paris, to Siluxe specifications. Paris sets the material standard, the shapes and the place of each piece in the evening.
Provenance is one part of trust, not the whole case for quality. Composition, fabric weight, supplier documentation, certification, construction and care carry the rest. So does the way a piece feels on an ordinary Tuesday night.
Construction is the part you can see. The pillowcase closes with an envelope flap instead of a zip, so nothing hard sits under your cheek. The S monogram is embroidered tone on tone, in the colour of the silk.
Which Siluxe piece suits which need?
Start with the one part of the night you want to change. The right first piece removes a small, recurring irritation without asking for a routine you will not keep.
| Your night-time need | The piece to consider | Why it may fit |
|---|---|---|
| A smoother surface under your face and loose hair | Silk pillowcase | It changes the contact surface without adding a step at bedtime. |
| A blowout you would like to see again on Monday | Glow bonnet | A twist-front turban that wraps the style in silk. |
| Silk every night, without thinking about it | Comfort bonnet | The everyday bonnet, simple to slip on. |
| Long, thick or curly hair, or protective styles | Cover bonnet | Long, with a tail, so the lengths have room. |
| Streetlight, travel or a late schedule keeps the room too bright | Silk eye mask | It reduces ambient light. Darkness, softly. |
| A loose tie for a blowout, curls or second-day hair | Scrunchie M, L or XL | Pick the size by hair density and the volume it holds. |
| Hair falling forward while you cleanse or apply skincare | Silk headband | It keeps hair off your face during the routine. |
This is a chooser, not a prescription. Someone who dislikes sleeping in headwear may prefer the pillowcase. Someone who wants the lengths contained may prefer a bonnet. Some people use both, and nobody needs both for the silk to be worth having.
The three bonnets are compared shape by shape in our guide to the Comfort, Glow and Cover bonnets.
What can silk do for your hair, and where does it stop?
Silk’s case begins with the surface. TRI Princeton measured lower friction between silk and hair than between cotton and hair. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) notes that satin or silk bonnets or pillowcases “may also reduce friction and preserve your hairstyle”. Neither is a Siluxe study, and neither turns the idea into a percentage.
In plain words, hair glides over silk instead of rubbing, so blowouts last and mornings start with fewer tangles. The claim stays qualitative. No fabric sets a number of days for a style, and humidity, movement and the way the hair was dried still shape the morning.
On a Sunday like this one, with long hair gathered up, the Cover bonnet does the simple part. It is long, with a tail, so the lengths rest in silk rather than on cotton.
At night, the pillowcase offers a smooth surface for skin and hair. Cool and fluid, it glides under your cheek. Skincare still travels, though. Serum, cream and oil can reach the pillowcase, so give them a few minutes before bed and wash the case as its label says.
The eye mask works on light rather than fabric. It reduces ambient light when a room cannot be made fully dark, and that is all it is asked to do.
Silk is a fabric, and Siluxe describes it as one. It changes what your hair and face rest on for the night. It treats nothing, and it still needs washing.
Where Siluxe fits
Start with the friction you notice most, and the moment it happens.
- After a blowout. Let the hair dry completely before bed. The Glow wraps it in silk, and a loose scrunchie suits a soft, high gather.
- After a late finish. A passive surface is more realistic than a complicated routine. The pillowcase asks for no extra step, and the eye mask helps when the light in the room is hard to control.
- With long, curly or protective styles. The Cover gives the lengths room for the night.
- Away from home. The eye mask manages imperfect light, and a pillowcase of your own makes an unfamiliar bed feel more like yours.
- As a gift. Choose around a habit the person already has. A pillowcase is the most neutral introduction. A bonnet is more personal, and depends on their hair and how they feel about headwear.
If you want a single place to begin, begin with the silk pillowcase. It replaces something you already own and adds no step at bedtime. Free delivery starts at $100 on USD orders and at €80 on euro orders.
Siluxe asks one modest thing of the night. One surface, chosen carefully and described honestly, can make a familiar evening feel more considered.
