22 momme

Momme is the weight of silk per square metre. Ours is 22 momme, about 95 g/m²: a dense, fluid silk.

Measured in the laboratory on our pillowcase silk: 22.9 momme (SGS, 2025).

Mulberry silk is graded by the length and evenness of its fibres. Grade 6A is the highest grade of the trade scale: long, regular filaments, for a smooth, even surface.

I class

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 tests every component for harmful substances. Class I is the class for baby articles: the strictest of the four.

Care & Wash

Keep your silk luminous. Gentle wash, gentler dry, a touch of steam.

  • Composition 100% Mulberry Silk (Grade 6A), 22 momme
Wash
  • Cold delicate cycle (≤30°C) or hand wash.
  • Use pH-neutral silk detergent. No bleach or enzymes.
  • Turn inside out, wash in mesh bag to reduce abrasion.
  • Rinse gently; do not wring.
Dry
  • Lay flat on a towel; blot, then reshape.
  • Air dry away from direct sun or heat.
  • No tumble dry.
Steam / Iron
  • Steam lightly from the reverse side to lift creases.
  • If ironing, use silk setting with pressing cloth. No spray starch.
Tips
  • Wash with similar fabrics to avoid pilling from coarse textiles.
  • Avoid rough pillowcases and harsh detergents.
  • Store away from direct sun; rotate pairs for longevity.

Bonnet questions, softly answered

A few details before choosing your overnight silk coverage.

Is the Glow right for my hair?

It is designed for blowouts, silk presses and mid-length to long hair, straight or wavy. For very long, thick, curly or braided hair, the Cover gives it all the room it needs; the bonnet guide compares all three.

How do I put it on so it stays on all night?

Set the back edge at your nape, bring the bonnet up and over so it scoops the hair in, then settle the twist a finger’s width above your hairline. The soft elastic holds it in place; if it marks your forehead, place it a little further back rather than tighter.

What size is it?

One size: a soft elastic from 54 cm relaxed to 72 cm stretched, about 27 to 36 cm measured flat. It is 23 cm deep, in a double layer of silk that gives the turban its shape.

Silk or satin: what’s the difference?

Satin names a weave, often polyester; silk is the fibre itself. The Glow is woven from 100% mulberry silk, 22 momme, Grade 6A, so your hair rests on real silk all night.

Do I need a silk pillowcase as well?

The Glow holds your lengths; a silk pillowcase gives a smooth surface under your face and any strands that escape. Many people use one, some use both: Silk pillowcase or bonnet? helps you decide.

How do I care for it?

Hand wash, or machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle in a mesh bag, with a pH-neutral silk detergent; no bleach, no fabric softener, no tumble dryer. Dry flat, away from direct sun. The full method is under “Care”.
